"Pierre Berbizier, Commissario Tecnico della Nazionale Italiana Rugby, ha annunciato oggi la formazione che scenderà in campo sabato 25 febbraio contro la Francia, allo Stade de France di Parigi (ore 15.00, diretta tv La7), nella terza giornata dell’RBS 6 Nazioni 2006.
Il CT degli Azzurri conferma ancora una volta la formazione che, nelle prime due giornate del Torneo, ha tenuto testa all’Irlanda ed all’Inghilterra, con la sola novità nel XV titolare del seconda linea del Bourgoin Carlo Del Fava in sostituzione dell’infortunato Santiago Dellapè.

Ben tre, invece, le novità in panchina, con i due giovani avanti del Ghial Calvisano Valerio Bernabò ed Alessandro Zanni, 3 presenze ciascuno, alla loro prima convocazione di carriera nell’RBS 6 Nazioni ed il trequarti dell’Overmach Parma Ezio Galon (4 caps, 3 dei quali conquistati nei Jaguar Test Match dello scorso novembre) che a cinque anni dal suo esordio in Nazionale, contro l’Irlanda, torna a respirare il clima del Torneo.
Il match contro la Francia rappresenta una novità assoluta per quattro atleti inseriti nel XV di partenza: il pilone Nieto è al suo primo 6 Nazioni da titolare dopo una fugace apparizione contro l’Inghilterra nel 2002, l’ala Canavosio ed il flanker Sole hanno fatto quest’anno il loro esordio in Azzurro, mentre il centro Gonzalo Canale, al suo terzo 6 Nazioni da titolare, affronta i galletti dopo aver saltato per infortunio gli scontri diretti del 2004 e del 2005.

Roma - ''La Francia non e' un avversario speciale. Prepariamo questa partita come abbiamo fatto per quella contro l'Inghilterra, ovvero, con la consapevolezza di andare ad affrontare una squadra di altissimo livello''. Pierre Berbizier sabato, per la terza giornata del Sei Nazioni, si ritrovera' ad affrontare da 'nemico' la squadra per la quale ha giocato e che ha allenato, in entrambi i casi con grandissimi risultati.

Questo, pero', non basta per scomporre il CT azzurro. "Ne' io, ne' i tanti azzurri che militano nel campionato francese penseremo ai nostri legami'', ha detto Berbizier. ''Il nostro lavoro e' incentrato sulla ricerca della migliore strategia da affrontare per affrontare l'avversario, individuare i loro ed i nostri punti forti e deboli. L'obiettivo e' quello di essere sempre realisti e scendere in campo per dare il 100%''.

Berbizier lo dice dall'inizio del Torneo: l'Italia puo' competere con le altre nazionali solo se da' sempre il massimo. ''Se sabato ci riusciremo di nuovo, allora potremo sperare di sfidarli. Se poi loro non saranno al 100%, per noi sara' ancora meglio, ma dovremo stare molto attenti ai dettagli''. Dettagli. Una parola che piace a Berbizier. ''Inghilterra e Francia sono le squadre piu' forti anche perche' conoscono bene i dettagli, ci lavorano sopra e vincono. L'Italia? Noi dobbiamo rispettare le nostre basi di gioco per 80 minuti. Contro la Francia sara' un esame in piu' per noi, visto che questo calendario, un po' sfortunato, per noi, ci ha imposto prima il confronto con i campioni del mondo e poi, in successione, questo a Parigi''.

Infine, il CT conferma la brutta notizia: ''Santiago Dellape' e' fuori''. la seconda linea azzurra, quindi, non ce l'ha fatta a recuperare dal problema accusato durante Stade Francais-Agen di domenica sera.

France go into Saturday's all-latin clash with Italy in Paris needing two victories. The first being a straight defeat of the rapidly evolving Azzurri side. The second being to win over their own fans - surely one of the hardest to please ensembles in world sport.

Admittedly, it looks a better French side than the one that fell over itself in losing to Scotland and then spluttered through the second half against Ireland till the home crowd booed it from the field.

But the player they booed with most venom was fly-half Frédéric Michalak, but coach Bernard Laporte has chosen to ignore "ces bourgeois de merde" and has stuck by his mercurial playmaker.

Having Castaignède at fullback and Christophe Dominici on the left wing looks better than having Dominici at fullback and Cédric Heymans on the wing. Having experienced Damien Traille at centre in the place of David Marty looks a better option. The swap from Julien Bonnaire to Thomas Lièvremont is not an obvious one except that Lièvremont may well bring greater creativity.

All of that is fine, but so much will depend on Michalak - yet again.

The Italians have lost both of their matches so far - away to Ireland when they left feeling robbed, and at home to England when the after-hours score flattered the visitors.

But in both their matches the Italians have been competitive and creative - as they should be in Paris which would not hold foreign fears for the men from Rome, several of whom play in France in any case.

In addition the Italians will get motivation from their French coach, Pierre Berbizier, once the coach of France. He will want his team to do well when he takes them "home" to show them off.

France may well opt to subdue the Italians up front. The Italians are more likely to start off playing 'French rugby', running wide. That is what they have been doing in a sudden blossoming of the Italian game which previously had relied on forward graft and kicking at goal.

Subduing the Italians may take time. It has a solid tight-five that stood up to the powerhouse England side better than Wales had done.

Secondly, Berbizier is happy to get reinforcements onto the field to postpone fatigue. But France would surely eventually get on top up front.

In this softening process, if it happens, Jean-Baptiste Elissalde is like to play a major role.

It is amongst the backs that France could probably find the shortcut to beating the Italians. They may well use Traille to home in on Ramiro Pez. Then they have the speed and elusive running of Dominici and Castaignède and the smooth power of Aurélien Rougerie.

The backs look too fast for the willing Italians.

Should, though it is unlikely, the boot decide the outcome, there is not much to choose between the boots of Pez and Elissalde.

Players to Watch:

For France: With a bit of space and the chance to set his wings racing, Saracens stalwart Thomas Castaignède will do just that. This is an exciting prospect for the fullback has an eye for space, impish feet, speed and skill.

For Italy: Stade Français star Mirco Bergamasco - young, committed and clearly fiercely Italian. he has made great strides since coming in to centre from the wing and he will be worth watching.

Head-to-Head: Sophisticated Jean-Baptiste Elissalde (France) against scruffy Paul Griffen (Italy) who is likely to harass his French opponent throughout the match and despite the better service Elissalde is like to get from his forwards. Up front, experienced and insouciant Raphaël Ibañez (France) against determined and energetic Fabio Ongaro - a contest the Italian may not lose.

Prediction: Italy will be willing but the home side will come through. France by 10 points.

l'Italia ha giocato un bel primo tempo.

la Francia ha sfruttato le rolling maul avanzantu per impostare il gioco sulla miskia ed andare in avanzamento, non trovando spazi adeguati per il gioco alla mano.

Italia in parità, fino all'espulsione di Del Fava (una seconda linea di 115 kg) ha fatto perdere un pò di copertura nella nostra difesa.

Ottima prova di Nieto e una meta della Francia (la prima) moolto dubbia, poichè vi era stata un'ostruzione ad un giocatore italiano senza palla da parte di un francese nellla linea dei 22 nostra.

La Francia in casa è da 10 anni che non la battiamo nel 95 era l'era dei Troncon Dominguez, dei Cuttitta, di Ivan Francescato (pace all'anima sua), di Giovannelli.

Le nostre partite arrivano negli ultimi turni Scozia e Galles non sono stupefacenti (la Scozia ha vinto sugli Inglesi solo per la capacità di giocare sui terreni impervi) e con un turno in casa a favore.

Se il gioco continua così negli ultimi turni ci toglieremo delle soddisfazioni.

Fustakkion con tutto il rispetto se impari un pò il gioco, vedrai che da parte nostra non è stata una bella partita.

I dvd della gazzetta sono favolosi, nell'ultimno numero (All Blacks legend) c'è un capitolo dedicato al mitico Zinzer Brooke, un numero 8 che segnava anche di drop, micidiale.
