Originariamente Scritto da greenday2 Visualizza MessaggioYeah but Moore really bring nothing news about wars.
I guess everybody knows that the "wars to bring democracy doesn't exist", and as long as human exist...war is always connected with economic or strategic interests.
And i guess everybody knows that bush went to iraq because of the oil, because of having a good outpost in middle-east and a future outpost against China.
A lot of ppls before Moore pointed out this...and they didn't receive the notoriety of Moore.
And that's because they didn't pointed out this problems in a popular way (of course showing a mum that cries for the son died in iraq makes more audience of a boring economy book).
If you had seen the american news, especially the news that followed the destruction of the twin towers.Believe me... I can not count how many times I saw the towers fall! The news pumping the agenda ""It was them... look what they did to us... com'on let's light our torches and unite in an angry mob and go over there and get those evil people""
Maybe you would could understand the need (if you will) to have a film that would bring into the homes of Americans ... the pain, suffering and death of those in the Middle East in an explict way (as your example).
Visual learning is a very powerful tool. I love books but we must face the fact that the world wants fast information (movies, documentry, internet).
To use your example an economy book in a race against the very "populist" news that streams into the american homes 24 hours a day, packed with the agenda to promote the war, in a sick brain washing way... desensitizing the american people to the world with their biased views.
Even if we would make a law saying everyone in America must own this economy book... how many would actually read it?
and those who would read it how long would it take to complete it?
How many more hours would be spent taking information from the nightly "populist" news than from the book (the one that more than likely would be collecting dust in the garage)?Last edited by Liz; 05-02-2007, 11:57:35.

Originariamente Scritto da greenday2 Visualizza MessaggioI never watched his movies as i would watch "miami vice"...and that's why i'm saying that too often he mixed some interesting parts with banal ones.
It's interesting if u wanna show how Bush obtain his presidence tnks to the helps of oil's company, but it's populist if u wanna tell me that the war is bad..and trying to describe Bush as the only guilty of it.
Who pays for the war.... the single mothers that try to support their kid(s)?The father who takes 2 jobs so the wife can stay home with their children? The elderly who have taken a cut back on their medical coverage (pension plan)?
So why should those people pay so that Bush and his investors make millions, not to mention the sick perverse murders (that is what I consider the deaths in Iraq) of thousands!

Originariamente Scritto da Dreamxcape Visualizza MessaggioThis is true. An economy book does not have a large audience, but is that not the point? How to reach the masses with the information?

Yeah u are right...and i guess u are confirming what i said.
The problem of the mass is that they want not complicate, fast and attractive informations. They don't care if the information is objective or not...and infact Moore gives to them what exactly they want.
Reading maybe an economic book about middle-east is surely boring and long...but i guess more complete and more objective than the Moore's report.
That's exactly what i don't like of him...he based his success on the lazyness of mass.E se la morte che ti e' d'accanto, ti vorrà in cielo dall'infinito, si udrà piu forte, si udrà piu santo, non ho tradito! Per l'onore d'Italia!

Originariamente Scritto da Dreamxcape Visualizza MessaggioI do not think that the movie only blamed Bush... but the whole adminstration. Dick Cheney had his interests the Saudies had theirs. I think the point was to bring to the American people the type of govt we have. One who says to bring democracy and stop cruel suppression of the people... only when it is brings profit to those in the administration or their investors.

yeah but...why people fight for a war in wich they don't believe? I mean...it's since 30 yrs that the military serice is not an obbligation anymore....why going there then?E se la morte che ti e' d'accanto, ti vorrà in cielo dall'infinito, si udrà piu forte, si udrà piu santo, non ho tradito! The military aims at "POOR BOYS"- who do not have scholarships to a university (athletic or academic).
These are boys that do not have a bright future to get out of the ghettos. It is a sad truth. The military pumps them full of dreams so they will sign their souls away.... We will give you money, a place to live, food to eat, scholarship for some university, and HONOR.
You will no longer be that Ghetto boy with nothing!
As a poor man... what would you do? work at Mc Donalds (if there is some work for you) for almost no pay and live in a public assisted housing for the rest of your life? sell drugs? Or hope that through the military they will help you out of the whole you were born in?

With that in mind, I admire his films. Non judging on "sensational" or not... but the fact that he is bringing something into the homes of people who do not stimulate themselves to ask why.

Originariamente Scritto da greenday2 Visualizza Messaggioyeah this i imagined....but i guess this is not a problem since there's Bush's administration right?
i guess it's a deep problem about welfare american state...
With the Bush adminstration, is that they are too ignorant to hide their scandals? I mean in many ways I believe Marx had the facts on the social system, but then you dont have to make is so clear (like the Bush/Cheney admin) do you?
