Syrian Bodybuilder dies in Mumbai
The victim, Mahmoud Ibrahim Alhdidi, was staying at the Ramada Hotel and had come to The Retreat on Madh Marve Road along with other participants to get his weight checked prior to the event.
"On Friday, athletes had to get their weight checked. Before his turn came, Alhdidi complained of shivering and cramps. When he collapsed, he was taken to a doctor. Alhdidi was declared dead 10 to 15 minutes later. The doctor said Alhdidi had suffered from dehydration and a cardiac arrest. The exact cause is not yet known," said Mohite-Patil.
Tournament organisers and the Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation general secretary, Sanjay More confirming the news. "He fell unconscious yesterday due to dehydration and was rushed to a hospital in suburban Malad, where he was declared dead for suspected heart attack," said More.
