Basta leggere il log di Xorg e capiamo subito cosa sistemare! Probabilmente è una cazzata!

In Ubuntu i permessi sono gestiti in modo diverso da altre distro, di default puoi fare tutto come utente normale usando sudo.
Ad esempio per editare xorg.conf:
sudo nano xorg.conf

Se poi hai proprio bisogno di usare l'account di root, basta un:
sudo passwd
e gli imposti la password...

Il comando SUDO mi sa un pò da presa per cul....

del tipo... non funziona ? Te lo devi SUDARE

Eheh apri un terminale sul macosx e vedrai che son tutti comandi Unix che esistono anche lì

Non andrà mai... Ma con il driver opensource "ati" andava?
Devi usare i driver originali ATI (fglrx)!

Manca il driver ATI per il 3D, non lo installa nativo, credo che dovro' fare "solo" questo :
